Outdoor Track & Field Teams Perform Well In Distance Events At Emory Invitational

ATLANTA, Ga. - The Dalton State men's and women's outdoor track & field teams had a good showing in the Emory Invitational on Friday and Saturday at the Woodruff Physical Education Center on the campus of Emory University in Atlanta, GA.

WOMEN'S
Junior Nayeli Jacobo brought home 1st place in the unseeded 1500M race in a time of 5:19:86, finishing three seconds ahead of 2nd place Lauren Kryzstowczyk of Birmingham-Southern. Cross Country All-American Emily Poole would come home 12th in the seeded 1500M with a time of 4:59:89, but came back strong in the her specialty, the 5000M, winning the event with a time of 18:13:70. Ana Karen Padilla, also running the 5000M, came in 20th with a time of 20:32:43. Padilla's time would be good enough though to place her 3rd in the C-section of the contest.

MEN'S
Sophomore Cole Thornton came home 57th out of 98 runners in the seeded 1500M event, while freshman Dylan Johnson placed 91st. Thornton and Johnson's times were good enough for them to place 3rd and 13th respectively in the unseeded 1500M. Freshman Ryan Gebelein would finish 12th in the seeded 5000M race with a time of 16:07:85. Fellow freshman Devin Swafford also competed in the 5000M race and came home a solid 48th in 17:14:19. Gebelein's time was good enough or 1st place in the C-section, while Swafford's time got him a 13th place finish. Competing together, the young Roadrunners finished 7th in the distance medley with a time of 11:13:41.

The men's and women's outdoor track & field teams will be back in action on April 7 in the Berry Field Day Invitational in Rome, GA.
