Distance Runners Perform Well In Clarksville


CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - The Dalton State Men's and Women's Track & Field teams had a solid two days at the Austin Peay Invitational in Clarksville, TN.

WOMEN
Emily Poole once again shined in the 5000M race taking home second with a time of 18:01:77. Junior Nayeli Jacobo finished 21st with a time of 20:08:54, while freshman Ana Karen Padilla was right behind in 26th with a time of 21:11:57.

Poole and Jacobo would also tackle the 800M and 1500M races, with Poole (2:30:36) barely edging Jacobo (2:30:38) in the 800M. Both would place in the top 45 in the 1500M.

MEN
Dylan Johnson would be the iron man for the Roadrunners running the 400M, 800M, and 1500M races with a best finish of 27th in the 400M. Ryan Gebelein shined in the 5000M, breaking the top 10 in ninth with a time of 15:40:29. Devin Swafford (16:56:61) and Cole Thornton (18:06:00) rounded out timing for the men.

The track & field teams will be back in action on April 21-22 in the SSAC Championships in Mobile, AL.
