Roadrunners Host Mobile Rams In Double Header

DALTON, Ga. – The Dalton State Men's and Women's soccer teams will take the pitch against the University of Mobile Rams (Ala.) in a back-to-back doubleheader later today at Lakeshore Park. The Lady Birds will kick off the action at 5:00 p.m. and the Boys in Blue will follow right after at 7:30 p.m.
 
MEN'S SOCCER
It's been a tough month for the Dalton State Men's soccer team but they bounced back late in their last match against St. Thomas and are holding strong with season a record of 4-3-1. Junior Daniel Valenciano is currently leading the roster with 4 goals, 4 assists, 12 points, and 10 shots-on-goal. In the last match, Valenciano scored the game winner with 5 minutes to go in the 2nd half. He now has 2 game winning goals recorded for the season. Overall, the Roadrunners have outscored their opponents 16-14 and out shot their opponents 98-79.
 
WOMEN'S SOCCER
The Dalton State Women's soccer team has been phenomenal all season, especially in September during which they scored a victory in back-to-back blowouts against Oakwood (Ala.). In their previous match against Oakwood, the Lady Birds blanked Oakwood 9-0, with Caylee Carpenter, Andrea Lopez, and Adriana Delgado each picking up 2 goals. Andrea Lopez leads the team with 9 goals, 20 points, and 23 shots. Overall this season, the Lady Birds have outscored their opponents by a whopping 43-5 and have out shot their opponents by 165-24 margin. The Roadrunners are currently 6-1-1 on the season.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Mobile Rams Men's team are 7-1 and ranked #3 in the country. They are 2-0 on the road. The Mobile Rams Women's team are 5-3 and are ranked #16 in the country. They are also 2-0 in away games.
