(RV) Roadrunners Control Attack But Fall To (RV) Xavier, 2-0


DALTON, Ga. – (RV) Dalton State controlled much of the attacking play and finished with a 13-6 advantage in shots, but (RV) Xavier capitalized on two scoring opportunities to defeat the Roadrunners 2-0 on Friday at Dalton Stadium.
 
FIRST HALF
Xavier struck early when Cole Spady scored an unassisted goal in the fifth minute, giving the visitors a 1-0 advantage. Dalton State responded by applying consistent pressure throughout the remainder of the half. David Saldana placed shots on goal in the 17th and 22nd minutes, but Xavier goalkeeper Lenno Schmidt stopped both attempts. The Roadrunners continued to generate chances through Jesus Huitanda, Pedro Silva, Aaron Ramos, and Sergio Salas, while also earning three corner kicks. Dalton State outshot Xavier 7-4 during the opening 45 minutes but entered halftime trailing 1-0.
 
SECOND HALF
The Roadrunners remained on the front foot after the break, producing early opportunities from Jonathan Mindegaard, Jesus Huitanda, and David Saldana. Xavier doubled its lead in the 67th minute when Cole Spady scored his second unassisted goal of the match. Dalton State immediately pushed forward, with consecutive attempts by Victor Valencia and Pedro Silva blocked in front of goal. Nicolas Cuna registered the Roadrunners' final attempt in the 85th minute, sending a shot wide. Dalton State generated six second-half shots but could not break through as Xavier preserved the 2-0 result.
