Outdoor Track & Field Season Kicks Off Today For The Roadrunners

DALTON, Ga. - The Dalton State men's and women's track & field teams will kick-off their season today in the Emory Invitational in Atlanta, GA. Both teams will be competing in the distance events of the program and will bring a competitive bunch to Atlanta.

MEN
The men's roster is led by junior Cole Thornton and freshman Ryan Gebelein. Gebelein finished 3rd in the Southern States Athletic Conference Championships in the fall and will be looking to continue his strong freshman campaign. Thornton will be in his second year running the distance races for the track & field team and his experience will be valuable to a young team.

WOMEN
2-time cross country All-American Emily Poole will be looking to improve her distance times after narrowly missing out on a berth to the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships one year ago. She will be joined on the team by redshirt junior Nayeli Jacobo and freshman Ana Karen Padilla. Jacobo will be focused on putting together a strong spring after using the track season last year to rehab a torn ACL.
