Dalton State Cross Country Coach Margie Bruner Completes Chattanooga Ironman

Congratulations on a job well done!

Chattanooga, Tn. - Dalton State cross country coach Margie Bruner has completed the 70.3 Ironman Chattanooga. Congratulations on a job well done. The Ironman was a run of 13.1 miles and a 1.2 mile swim followed by a bike ride of 56 miles.

Coach Bruner Bruner completed the event in memory of John Bruner, who died on August 4, 2007 while running the Missionary Ridge Road Race in Chattanooga. At the time, John was a cross country runner for Georgia College and Stae University in Milledgeville. He suffered a rare coronary artery anomaly.

After his death, Coach Bruner said she would run the approximately 2.5 miles each day to John's gravesite, "cry for hours, then run back home."

"Everything I run, I run for him," Coach Bruner Chattanooga New-Free Press reporter Mark Widemer. We in the Dalton State athletic department are extremely proud to have her as a colleague.
