Cross Country Individuals Will Run In NAIA Championships Tomorrow

DALTON, Ga. - The Dalton State men's and women's cross country teams will be well represented tomorrow, November 19 at the NAIA Cross Country National Championships in Elsah, IL.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
While both the men's and women's teams narrowly failed to qualify for the National Championship meet, women's runners Emily Poole, Natalie Hensley and Ana Karen Padilla, and men's runners Ryan Gebelein and David Murillo qualified as individuals based on their finish in the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship.  They will compete for an individual national championship and the honor of being named an All-American.  Poole accomplished this feat last year as a freshman and will look to repeat as an All-American in her sophomore year.

THE COURSE
The North Farm Cross Country Course is located just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis, MO.  The American Midwest Conference, with offices located in nearby St. Louis, MO, will be hosts of the event.  The women's 5-kilometer championships will kick off the action at North Farm at 10:30 a.m. (CST), which will be followed by the men's 8-kilometer championships at 11:30 a.m. (CST).

The NAIA made a swift decision in September to move the meet out of Charlotte, NC amid violence and controversy surrounding the state's HB2 legislation.  Elsah was chosen as the new host in early October.

COVERAGE
The NAIA in conjunction with the American Midwest Conference will provide a live stream of the event, while live scoring will be covered by trxctiming.com.
