Roadrunners Punch Ticket To Montgomery

Box Score
DALTON, Ga. - The Dalton State soccer team is headed to the semi-finals of the Southern States Athletic Conference Soccer Championships after a convincing 4-0 victory over Middle Georgia State at Lakeshore Soccer Complex on Saturday night.

Dalton State improves to 12-2-1 on the year and advances to play #6-seed Faulkner on Wednesday, November 9.  Middle Georgia ends their season at 9-8-1.

The first score of the game came in the 10th minute off the boot of Emmanuel Olusanya.  The Roadrunners would run-a-way from there.  In the 35th minute Daniel Valenciano would find the back of the net on an assist from Santiago Moore.

Three minutes later Dean Foster would take a beautiful cross from Jordan Man and put it past Middle Georgia keeper Petur Mar Bernhoft for the third goal of the half for the Roadrunner.

Dalton State would play possession soccer for much of the second half, only pouncing if the opportunity presented itself.  That opportunity came in the 77th minute when Daniel Valenciano intercepted an errant ball and put it home for the 4-0 lead.

Valenciano led the Roadrunners on the evening with 2 goals and 1 assist.

"It's nice to make the SSAC semi-final round for the first time and the team is excited to pull off out 12th win of the season," said DS soccer coach Kerem Daser.  "I am so proud of our team and my Dalton State team and coaching staff.  I want to thank the Roadrunner supporters for their amazing support.  We will train hard this week and get ready for a battle against Faulkner."

The Roadrunners will face-off against Faulkner on November 9 at Emory Folmar YMCA Complex in Montgomery, AL.
