The Dalton State volleyball Roadrunners (7-8, 3-5 SSAC) dominated Southern States Athletic Conference opponent Martin Methodist (3-17, 2-4 SSAC) in the first two sets Saturday on the way to the straight set victory.
Dalton State never trailed in the first set and led by as many as 11 points in the 25-15 win. The Roadrunners led by 11 points a couple of times in the second set and went on to the 25-18 win.
The third set was a much different story. The visiting Warhawks managed to build an 18-10 lead before DS came back to tie the set at 22, 24 and 25. The Roadrunners then went on to take the 27-25 set win and the match.
Michala Askew had 40 assists and eight digs. Kianna Delaney had 17 digs, 10 digs, and one blocked shot Marta Guntin had 10 kills and seven digs.
"We played well and we finished the weekend with two big wins," said Coach Bruna Langner. "I could not be happier."
The Roadrunners travel to Marietta on Thursday to play Life University at 5:00 p.m. then have some time off before traveling to Brunswick on Oct. 16th to play No. 13 College of Coastal Georgia.
