MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The chase for the 2025-26 Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Women's Golf title is officially on, and Dalton State is right in the thick of it. The Roadrunners, who boast six all-time SSAC championships, were narrowly edged out in last year's dramatic playoff finish—but they're back with unfinished business.
 
"Preseason polls are just what they are. A way to get people talking about the season, which is always a good thing," said Jim McGrew, women's golf coach. "Ultimately, things will be decided on the course eight months from now."
 
SSAC coaches placed Dalton State second in the league's preseason poll, just behind defending champion William Carey. The Crusaders earned 62 points and six first-place votes, while Dalton State followed closely with 57 points and two first-place nods—proof that the Roadrunners remain a force to be reckoned with.
 
The season tees off September 15-16 in West Palm Beach, Fla. at the Seahawk Shootout with eyes already set on the SSAC Women's Golf Championship, scheduled for April 20–22 at RTJ Cambrian Ridge in Greenville, Ala.—the same venue where Dalton State nearly clinched the title last spring.
 
"Our goal is to see if we can stay consistent in our efforts to improve every day," McGrew added. "If we do that, things will take care of themselves."
