WALESKA, Ga. – #4 Dalton State opened the soccer season with a 1-1 tie on the road at Reinhardt (Ga.) at Ken White Field in Waleska on Friday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF

• (1-0 RU) RU: Scoring started early in this one as Jacob Grimmer and Andres Jorquera hooked up in the 5', with Grimmer hitting the back of the net for a quick 1-0 lead.
• (1-1 T) DS: The Roadrunners responded in the 19' as Josh Ramos hit paydirt with the equalizer off an assist from Rasmus Andersson.

SECOND HALF

THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) opens the year at (0-0-1 overall), while Reinhardt (Ga.) carries the same record (0-0-1 overall). Josh Ramos collected the first Roadrunner goal of the season, with Rasmus Andersson getting an assist.
 
Isai Romero got the start in goal for a hobbled Michael Barrueta and performed nicely with 2 saves and only 1 goal allowed, facing 3 total shots. Fifteen Birds saw time on the pitch, with 7 going for the full 90'.

#4-ranked Dalton State will get 5 days of work in as they prepare for the Dalton Classic, which begins on Thursday, August 24, at Dalton Stadium. Georgia Gwinnett and Louisiana College open play at 6:00 p.m., with the Roadrunners facing off against Brescia (Ky.) at 8:30 p.m.
