Three Track Runners Earn Conference Championships


MOBILE, Ala. - Three Dalton State track & field athletes earned conference championships while two more claimed podium finishes on Friday and Saturday in the SSAC Championships at Jaguar Track in Mobile, AL.

WOMEN
Emily Poole continued her impressive track season, earning the conference championship in the 5000M with a time of 18:27:48. Junior Nayeli Jacobo (21:38:32) followed close behind Poole and earned found herself third on the podium at the finish.

Jacobo would earn another podium finish with a 2nd place effort in the 1500M. Freshman Ana Karen Padilla had a very impressive race in the 10,000M, claiming the conference championship with a time of 45:52:99.

MEN
Freshman Ryan Gebelein had a hard fought duel for first in the 10,000M, winning his first conference championship with a time of 35:33:74. Fellow freshman Devin Swafford earned a podium finish in the 10,000M finishing third in 37:50:27.

Sophomore Cole Thornton had a great championship race as well, taking home fifth in the 1500M with a time of 4:13:23.
