Montgomery, AL. – The Dalton State volleyball team defeated Martin Methodist (TN) for their second win of the day in the Southern States Athletic Association tournament at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex.

The Roadrunners (14-15) defeated the Redhawks is straight sets. Dalton State never trailed in the first two games cruising to wins of 25-19 and 25-15. Martin Methodist got off to a 5-3 lead in the final set, but DS came roaring back 19-14 lead.  MM then pulled to within three at 20-17. Dalton State then pulled away for the 25-19 set win and match victory.

Michala Askew had 30 assists and 13 digs for the Roadrunners. Kianna Delaney scored 16.5 points on 11 kills. Savannah Nelson scored 10.5 points on seven kills. Rafaela Petrunko had 11 digs, Anna Metzler had 12. Marta Guntin had six kills and nine digs. Karly Newman had 10 digs.

The Roadrunners play No. 1 seed Coastal Georgia  and No. 2 seed Mobile plays Faulkner, both matches at 10 a.m. CT (11 a.m. ET) Saturday.

The quarterfinal winners will meet in the SSAC Tournament Championship game at 2:00 p.m. CT., 3:00 p.m. ET.
