David Barrueta was hired as an assistant coach prior to the fall 2020 season. He had previously worked with Coach Saif Alsafeer as an assistant coach for the USL League Two Dalton Red Wolves. He graduated from Rutgers University (New Brunswick, NJ) with a bachelor’s degree in history in 1990.
 
He has coached at various levels including Interim Head Coach/Assistant Coach/Goalkeeper Coach of USL League One Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (2019-2020) and Assistant Coach/Goalkeeper Coach of USL League Two Dalton Red Wolves (2019-present). His past collegiate coaching experience includes Sewanee, Mercer University, Longwood University and Yale University. He currently serves as Dalton Academy Director for the Red Wolves Youth Soccer Academy and works with goalkeepers at Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga.
 
Barrueta played at every professional level in the United States following a successful career at Loyola University Maryland (1987) and Rutgers University (1988-1990). During college, he was a finalist, a semifinalist and quarterfinalist in the NCAA Division I tournament and amassed 40 shutouts as a collegiate goalkeeper. He played professionally for Maryland Bays of the APSL, Baltimore Bays of USL, New England Revolution of MLS and Atlanta Ruckus of A-League. He retired from playing in 1997.
 
He was born in Washington, DC and lives in the Chattanooga area with his two kids. In addition to his coaching duties, he is a licensed real estate appraiser and broker.
