#3-Ranked Dalton State Finishes Tie For Second At Wildcat Fall Invitational

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – #3 Dalton State held the lead through the first two rounds before finishing tied for second at the Wildcat Fall Invite on the Ackerman-Allen Course at Purdue's Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex.
 
The Lady Roadrunners recorded team rounds of 302, 301 and 305 to finish at 44-over-par with a 908 total. Dalton State tied Marian (Ind.) for second place and finished two strokes behind champion SCAD (Ga.).
 
Elin Gullbrandsson and Louise Krone led Dalton State individually, tying for 11th at 10-over-par. Aitana Rubio Sevilla also represented the Lady Birds as an individual, tying for 25th.

ROUND 1
Dalton State opened the tournament with a 14-over-par 302, securing the first-round lead by two strokes over Marian (Ind.).
 
Mady Simpson set the pace for the Roadrunners with a 2-over 74. Simpson played the front nine in 3-over before making the turn and completing the back nine in 1-under 35.
 
Gullbrandsson followed with a 3-over 75. Susana Calvar added a 4-over 76, while Reese Day supplied the fourth counting score with a 5-over 77. Krone carded a 6-over 78.
 
Sevilla posted a 4-over 76 while competing as an individual. Sevilla's round included a birdie on the par-4 11th hole and another birdie on the par-5 16th.
 
Dalton State's opening-round 302 placed the Roadrunners five strokes ahead of SCAD, which began the tournament with a 19-over score.
 
ROUND 2
The Lady Roadrunners improved by one stroke during the second round, posting a 13-over 301 to move to 27-over through 36 holes. The performance extended Dalton State's lead to six strokes over SCAD heading into the final round.
 
Krone delivered Dalton State's best round of the tournament with an even-par 72. Krone opened with consecutive birdies on the first and second holes, added another birdie at No. 11 and balanced four bogeys with a birdie at No. 17.
 
Day contributed a 2-over 74 after playing both sides in 1-over 37. Simpson added a 5-over 77, and Gullbrandsson completed the team score with a 6-over 78.
 
Calvar shot an 8-over 80, while Sevilla recorded a 5-over 77 as an individual. Sevilla highlighted the round with consecutive birdies at Nos. 12 and 13, including a two on the par-3 13th.
 
Dalton State's two-round total of 603 gave the Roadrunners sole possession of first place entering the tournament's final 18 holes.
 
ROUND 3
Dalton State closed with a 17-over 305, bringing its final total to 44-over 888. SCAD produced a 9-over final round to erase the Roadrunners' six-stroke advantage and win the tournament by two shots.
 
Gullbrandsson led Dalton State in the final round with a 1-over 73. Gullbrandsson played the back nine at even par and recorded birdies on Nos. 11 and 17.
 
Krone followed with a 4-over 76. After making the turn at 2-under 34, Krone encountered trouble at the par-4 10th but completed the remaining eight holes in 1-over.
 
Calvar contributed a 5-over 77, and Day posted a 7-over 79 to provide Dalton State's fourth counting score. Simpson closed with an 11-over 83.
Sevilla carded an 8-over 80 in the final round. Sevilla made consecutive birdies on the seventh and eighth holes and completed the event at 17-over 233, tying Calvar for 25th individually.
 
SCAD Savannah finished at 42-over to claim the team championship. Dalton State and Marian tied for second at 44-over, while Indiana Wesleyan finished one stroke behind the two teams in fourth.
