Roadrunners Outlast Mobile (Ala.) In Overtime, 95–93, At Cramton Bowl Multiplex

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Dalton State leaned on a dominant frontcourt and late-game composure to edge Mobile, 95–93, in overtime on Thursday afternoon in Montgomery. Omarion Smith powered the Roadrunners with 28 points and 10 rebounds, while Qualen Pettus added 26 points and 8 boards. Ja'Ron Briggs delivered 10 points in OT, including 8-of-9 at the line, to close it out.

RECAP
FIRST HALF
Dalton State established its identity early with paint touches and rim pressure, using a 14:00-mark surge to seize its largest first-half lead of seven before taking a 40–35 advantage into the locker room. Smith set the tone with 13 first-half points, and Pettus' downhill attacks complemented a defense that forced seven Mobile turnovers before the break. The Roadrunners shot just 1-for-6 from three (16.7%) in the half but compensated with interior scoring and second-chance production.

SECOND HALF
The second half swung wildly. Mobile's Aahmod Scarbrough heated up and, alongside Mason Sword, pushed the Rams in front 59–55 near the eight-minute mark. Dalton State answered behind Pettus' driving finishes and Smith's work on the glass, but a late Rams surge, capped by Dayton Richardson, forced extra time at 78–78.

OVERTIME
In overtime, Zion Hunter briefly nudged Mobile ahead 80–78, before Briggs and Smith steadied the Roadrunners. Briggs hit a series of clutch free throws in the final minute, and despite a Scarbrough three with 0:01 left that cut it to one, Pettus iced it at the stripe for the 95–93 final.
