Roadrunners Drop Road Test at Mobile, 81–71

MOBILE, Ala. – Dalton State couldn't overcome a hot-shooting first half and a steady parade to the foul line by Mobile, falling 81–71 on Thursday night at Pharr Gymnasium in Mobile, Ala. Dalton State moved to 11–7 (5–4 SSAC) while Mobile (Ala.) improved to 5–15 (6–5 SSAC).

RECAP
FIRST HALF
The Roadrunners opened well, scoring the game's first four and leading 7–2, and held their largest lead at five before the Rams caught fire from deep. Mobile hit 8-of-15 from three in the opening stanza and took a 40–32 lead into halftime. Zion Hunter led the surge with 13 first-half points on 5-for-6 shooting (3-for-3 from three). Dalton State shot 42.4% in the half but was outpaced by Mobile's 48.3%.

SECOND HALF
Ja'Ron Briggs' free throws trimmed the margin to six early in the second half, but a Mason Sword dunk and triple rebuilt Mobile's cushion. The Rams repeatedly answered Dalton State pushes, capped by back-to-back Hunter dunks near the four-minute mark, and sealed it at the stripe, going 21-for-29 on free throws after the break. Dalton State got late buckets from Qualen Pettus and a Jamori McDougald corner three, but Mobile closed it out for the 81–71 final.
