Road Warriors: Dalton State Survives Late Three To Edge Faulkner, 72–71

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Dalton State (Ga.) (12–7, 6–4) gutted out a one-point road win at Faulkner (Ala.) (14–7, 8–3) on Friday night, holding off a furious final-seconds rally to secure a 72–71 victory at Tine Davis Gymnasium. Raylan Barrion led the Roadrunners with 16 points as DS shot 45.3% from the floor and made just enough plays down the stretch to snap the Eagles' push

RECAP
FIRST HALF
Dalton State set the tone early behind a Barrion triple and Qualen Pettus' rim pressure, racing to an 18–8 lead midway through the period. Defensive rim protection from Omarion Smith (multiple first-half blocks) helped the Roadrunners maintain control as they built their largest lead of 12 before the break. A late flurry by Faulkner trimmed the margin, but Pettus' layup with one second left sent DS to the locker room up 40–32.

SECOND HALF
Faulkner opened the half with a Gabriel Rivera three and a Tanner Vogel tip-in to pull within 40–37, but DS answered with paint touches from Pettus and Varun Danak to steady the lead. The Eagles briefly seized momentum at 53–50 after a Gideon Harris layup and ensuing technical free throws, only for Miles Ceballos' put-back and a Kyoya Sasaki layup to flip the lead back to the visitors. Barrion's shot-making and a Sasaki corner three helped extend the cushion to 68–60 with 3:59 left. In a tense finish, DS split several late free throws and cashed in one technical foul shot at :13 (Sasaki), which proved decisive after KJ Rogers drilled a three with two seconds remaining to set the final margin.
