Dalton State Dominates ABAC with 10-1 Victory at Dalton Stadium

DALTON, Ga. - Dalton State delivered a commanding performance on Thursday night, overwhelming ABAC (Ga.) with a 10-1 win in Southern States Athletic Conference action at Dalton Stadium. The Lady Roadrunners controlled every facet of the match, outshooting the Fillies 54-1 and earning their third conference win of the season.
 
FIRST HALF
The Lady Birds wasted no time asserting dominance, scoring six goals before halftime. Lexi Lyon opened the scoring in the 11th minute off an assist from Aoife Saunders. Amy Wearing doubled the lead in the 20th minute, assisted by Lyon and Tania Dominguez. Lyon struck again in the 27th minute, followed by goals from Ria Cox (28') and Wearing (31'). Andrea Dominguez capped the first-half barrage with an unassisted strike in the 43rd minute, sending Dalton State into the break with a 6-0 advantage.
 
SECOND HALF
Dalton State continued its relentless attack after the break. Lyon completed her hat trick in the 47th minute, and Tania Dominguez added another in the 51st. Carrol Anne Giannamore scored in the 76th minute before ABAC's Taylor Underwood broke the shutout in the 81st. Abbey Butte closed the scoring for Dalton State in the 86th minute, sealing the 10-1 result.
 
STATISTICAL HIGHLIGHTS UP NEXT 
Dalton State continues their short home stretch when they host #16 UT Southern (Tenn.) at Dalton Stadium on Wednesday, October 1. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
