Dalton State Women Deliver Gritty Performance At Firehawk Invitational

OAKVILLE, Ala. - The Dalton State women's cross country team showcased determination and depth at the Firehawk Invitational, clocking a combined team time of 2:10:23 and averaging 26:04 per runner across the 5K course. With a spread of just 5:41 between their top and final scorer, the Lady Roadrunners demonstrated a tight pack and a fighting spirit.
 
Leading the charge was sophomore Kylie Gray, who surged to a 22nd-place finish with a time of 23:53.68, setting the tone early for Dalton State. Not far behind, Allison Batts crossed in 24:32.61 to secure 30th overall, continuing her consistent season.
 
Kate Girard and Madison Todd held strong in the middle of the pack, placing 51st and 57th respectively with times of 25:59.08 and 26:23.86. Their efforts helped anchor the team's scoring and maintain momentum through the second half of the race.
 
Rounding out the scoring five were Anna Anderson (86th, 29:34.75) and Taylor Harris (87th, 29:35.11), who pushed through the final stretch to close the gap and secure Dalton State's team placement.
 
With a solid showing and a tight time spread, the Lady Roadrunners continue to build momentum heading into the heart of the season. Their performance at the Firehawk Invitational reflects a growing confidence and cohesion that bodes well for upcoming meets.
