KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – Junior Kylie Gray led the way for Dalton State as the Lady Roadrunners placed 14th in a competitive 20-team field at the NAIA Appalachian Challenge on Friday at Sequoyah Park. Dalton State completed the 5K with 342 points, a combined scoring time of 1:43:40 and an average time of 20:44.
 
Gray paced the Lady Roadrunners with a time of 19:10.1, averaging 6:10.1 per mile to finish 26th overall. Sophomore Kate Girard followed with a 61st-place finish, completing the course in 20:02.1.
 
Sophomore Allison Batts was the third Dalton State runner across the line, finishing 91st in 20:33.6. Freshman Yoselin Garcia posted a time of 20:55.9 to place 106th and round out the Roadrunners' top four.
 
Freshman Karli Sams completed Dalton State's scoring five with a time of 22:59.4, placing 155th. Fellow freshman Hayleigh Carriveau finished 174th in 25:00.1.
 
#3 Milligan (Tenn.) won the team championship with 34 points, placing five runners among the top 13 scoring positions. Lea Kunstmann of #25 Cumberlands (Ky.) captured the individual title with a time of 17:40.8.
