Carrasco Strikes, Late PK Levels It: Roadrunners Draw 1–1 At Faulkner (Ala.)

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — #1-ranked Dalton State stayed unbeaten with a 1–1 result at Faulkner (Ala.) on Thursday night at Billy Hilyer Stadium in Montgomery, Ala., as Luis Carrasco put the Roadrunners in front early in the second half before a late Eagles penalty kick forced a split of the points.

FIRST HALF
The opening 45 were cagey and scoreless, with Dalton State generating the better looks—outshooting Faulkner 5–1—while Faulkner keeper Harrison Shiner was called into three saves in the final eight minutes of the period.

Jonathon Geerdes, who started in goal for the Roadrunners, made his lone first-half stop in the 25th minute to keep it even at the break. The half featured a yellow card to Faulkner's Angel Ugwumba at 40:35 as the Roadrunners' pressure mounted through a flurry of late corners.

SECOND HALF
Dalton State broke through in the 52nd minute after sustained pressure off a corner. Moments after Shiner denied a Carrasco header, the sophomore made good on the next chance—burying an unassisted strike at 51:56 for a 1–0 lead.

Faulkner grew into the half, unleashing 12 second-half shots, but substitute goalkeeper Nestor Mendez produced key saves in the 81st and 89th minutes to protect the advantage. The hosts finally equalized in the 87th when Nicolas Tamayo converted from the penalty spot at 86:45, and the Eagles kept the Roadrunners under duress with five corners after the 88th minute as the match finished level.
