Second-Half Surge: Dalton State Overwhelms Campbellsville in 4–0 Shutout


DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State men's soccer continued its early-season momentum with a commanding 4–0 victory over Campbellsville (Ky.), improving to 2–0 on the year. After a scoreless first half, the Roadrunners erupted in the second, showcasing depth, precision, and relentless pressure.
 
First-Half Summary:
Despite controlling possession and generating multiple scoring opportunities, Dalton State couldn't break through Campbellsville's defense in the opening 45 minutes.
•  The Roadrunners out-shot the Tigers 10–1 in the first half, including six on target.
•  Goalkeeper Malthe Schou kept Campbellsville afloat with five saves, including key stops on Pedro Silva and Jaime Mendiola.
•  Dalton State earned four corner kicks and forced multiple defensive errors, but the scoreboard remained unchanged at halftime.
 
Second-Half Summary:
The floodgates opened after the break, with Dalton State netting four goals in a 27-minute span.
•  54' – Jonathan Hernandez broke the deadlock with an unassisted strike.
•  59' – Sergej Misic doubled the lead off a crisp assist from Mathues Rezende.
•  69' – Hernandez struck again, this time assisted by Mendiola.
•  81' – Misic capped the scoring with his second goal, set up by Lachlan Bogoevski.
Dalton State's attacking depth was on full display, with 19 total shots and 11 on goal. The defense remained airtight, allowing just three shots and only one on target.
