Roadrunners Roll in Season Opener: Carrasco, Silva Lead 3–0 Shutout Over Brescia


DALTON, Ga. — Dalton State men's soccer opened the 2025 campaign with a commanding 3–0 victory over Brescia (Ky.), showcasing sharp execution, depth, and character on their home turf.
 
First-Half Summary
The Roadrunners wasted no time asserting control, dominating possession and generating early chances. In the 10th minute, Pedro Silva broke the deadlock with a clinical finish off a corner from Vinicius Novo. Dalton State fired nine shots in the half, including two on target, while holding Brescia to a single attempt. The defensive line, anchored by Hugo Martinez, kept the visitors at bay, and goalkeeper Nestor Mendez remained untested through 45 minutes.
 
Second-Half Summary
Dalton State's depth and pace continued to overwhelm Brescia. David Saldana doubled the lead in the 64th minute, slotting home a well-placed ball from Luis Carrasco. Carrasco then capped the scoring in the 80th minute, finishing a setup from Jesus Huitanda. The Roadrunners maintained relentless pressure, out-shooting Brescia 9–0 in the second half and earning five corner kicks. Substitutions kept the tempo high, and the defense preserved the clean sheet with poise.
