#17-Ranked Roadrunners Faced Tough Wolf Pack Team In SSAC Showdown


NEW ORLEANS, La. – In an SSAC basketball clash, #17-ranked Dalton State was unable to secure a win against Loyola (La.), falling 88-79 on Saturday afternoon at The Den in New Orleans, La. Despite a spirited effort, the Roadrunners encountered difficulties in overcoming an early deficit.

Antonio Lewis emerged as Dalton State's top performer, scoring 23 points. Matt Compas was equally impressive, contributing 23 points and grabbing seven rebounds, showcasing his prowess on both ends of the court. Other key players included Kawasiki Ricks, who provided three assists and secured three steals, reflecting a well-rounded performance despite the team's overall struggles.

Dalton State's game was highlighted by individual efforts, with players like Lewis consistently breaking through Loyola's defenses and multiple team members contributing meaningfully, but the Wolf Pack's consistent scoring and strong defensive plays posed significant challenges.

#17 Dalton State (Ga.) falls to (21-5 overall, 13-3 SSAC) with the loss but maintains a top spot in the SSAC standings, while Loyola (La.) improves to (10-15 overall, 7-9 SSAC) with the win. The paint was fairly even with the Wolf Pack holding a slight edge in PITP at 42-40 and on the glass at 40-33. The Birds continue to improve from the free throw line hitting 80.8% (21-of-26) of their shots.

#17 Dalton State will finally get back to Bandy Gym when they host their final two games of the regular season that begins on Thursday, February 20, when Point (Ga.) comes to Dalton. Tip-Off on Coach O Court is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
