#20 Roadrunners Fight Through 12 Lead Changes in Thrilling Matchup


LEBANON, Tenn. – Dalton State battled wire-to-wire in a tough road matchup against Cumberland (Tenn.) but couldn't overcome late turnovers and clutch free throws, dropping a 76–68 decision at Dallas Floyd Arena. The Roadrunners led briefly in the second half but saw the Phoenix close strong to secure the win.

FIRST HALF
The opening 20 minutes featured a back-and-forth contest with 11 ties and multiple lead changes. Dalton State shot an efficient 45.5% from the field and knocked down five three-pointers, including key triples from Ja'Ron Briggs and Qualen Pettus, to keep pace. Miles Ceballos added eight first-half points and a tip-in that sparked momentum. Despite Cumberland's advantage inside, Dalton State held its own on the glass and went into the break with a slim 39–38 lead.
 
SECOND HALF
The second half began with fireworks as Jamori McDougald drilled a three to push Dalton State ahead 42–40. The Roadrunners extended their lead to four at the 11:14 mark, but Cumberland responded with a decisive run fueled by Michael Nwoye and Triston Conger. Dalton State struggled from deep (1-for-8) and committed costly turnovers down the stretch, allowing Cumberland to capitalize at the free-throw line. The Phoenix closed the game on a 10–4 run, sealing the victory.
