DALTON, Ga. - Dalton State's student-athletes turned in a championship-caliber semester in the classroom, posting gains across nearly every metric and outpacing the campus average.
 
Dalton State Athletics recorded a 3.22 semester GPA for Fall 2025, up from spring and fall of the previous academic year, while the athletics cumulative GPA climbed to 3.25. Both figures exceeded the campus-wide semester GPA of 3.02.
 
"It has been exciting getting the Fall grade reports from each team," said Ben Rickett, Dalton State Athletic Director. "It continues to show how committed our coaching staff and support staff are to our student-athlete mission. It takes a team effort and I am thankful for all that are involved in the journey."
 
BY THE NUMBERS

• 67% of student-athletes earned a 3.0 or higher for the semester, with 69 of 103 rostered athletes in the 3.00–4.00 range
• 50 student-athletes made the Dean's List (3.5+ GPA)
• 15 achieved a perfect 4.0
• Three Roadrunners earned their degrees this fall

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS

• Women's Golf led all programs with a 3.67 team GPA, earning recognition as the semester's top academic team
• Women's Cross Country posted a 3.55, and Women's Track (combined roster with cross country) recorded a 3.53
• Women's Soccer notched a 3.36, while Men's Golf earned a 3.32
• Basketball recorded a 2.98, and Men's Soccer finished at 2.78

Academic performance showed a clear upward trajectory across the last three terms:

• Athletics Semester GPA: Fall 2024 (3.10), Spring 2025 (3.02), Fall 2025 (3.22)
• Athletics Cumulative GPA: Fall 2024 (3.21), Spring 2025 (3.18), Fall 2025 (3.25)
• Campus GPA (for context): Fall 2024 (3.14), Spring 2025 (3.03), Fall 2025 (3.02)

The fall results underscore a program-wide emphasis on academic support. Roadrunner student-athletes did fantastic work balancing rigorous course loads with tricky practice times, and competitive schedules.

With momentum in the classroom and continued collaboration across campus, Dalton State Athletics enters 2026 positioned to sustain and elevate its academic performance.
