#10 Dalton State Battles to Scoreless Draw at #7 William Carey

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — In a clash of NAIA powerhouses, No. 10-ranked Dalton State men's soccer fought to a hard-earned 0-0 draw against No. 7-ranked William Carey (Miss.) on Saturday afternoon at Crusader Field in Hattiesburg, Miss. Despite numerous chances on both sides, neither team could break through in a physical, defensive battle that showcased grit and toughness.

FIRST HALF
The opening 45 minutes were marked by intensity and near-misses. William Carey applied early pressure, with Milos Stajkovic hitting the crossbar in the sixth minute and Santiago Molina forcing a save from Dalton State goalkeeper Nestor Mendez shortly after. Dalton State responded through standout forward Sergej Misic, who tested Jamie Barry with a shot in the 13th minute and fired high later in the half. Both defenses held firm, and the half ended scoreless despite William Carey outshooting Dalton State 7-4.

SECOND HALF
The second half continued the theme of tight defense and physical play. Dalton State earned its lone corner in the 64th minute but couldn't capitalize. Misic remained active, sending another shot high in the 57th minute and seeing one blocked in the 77th. William Carey threatened with headers from Teddy Miranda and Luka Brandic, but Mendez stood tall, recording his third save in the 83rd minute on Marc Guerrero's attempt. Yellow cards to David Saldana (46:40) and Pedro Silva (72:36) highlighted the physical nature of the contest. Despite late substitutions and surges from both sides, the match ended 0-0.
