#13 Birds Surge Past Night Hawks With Big Second Half


DALTON, Ga. – In a dominant second half, #13 Dalton State pulled away from Thomas (Ga.), cashing in a 100-74 win to remain undefeated in SSAC play at Bandy Gym in Dalton on Thursday night.

Dalton State took control of the game from the outset, establishing a 38-34 halftime lead. They continued their aggressive play into the second period, ultimately expanding their lead by a staggering 30 points with just 1:06 left in the clock, showcasing their offensive might and defensive resilience. Qualen Pettus was particularly outstanding, racking up 29 points and 15 rebounds, leading the scoring alongside Matt Compas with 21 points and Antonio Lewis, who added 17 points.
 
The Roadrunners' synergy was evident as they easily maneuvered through the Night Hawks' defenses. Additional notable performances included Omarion Smith's all-around game with 11 points, six rebounds, two steals, and four blocks. Tyshan Kelley contributed significantly with his defensive prowess, accumulating three steals and three assists while scoring 4 points.

#13 Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (15-2 overall, 9-0 SSAC) with the win and runs their winning streak to 13 games. Thomas (Ga.) falls to (9-9 overall, 3-6 SSAC) with the loss.

#13 Dalton State will stay in the friendly confines of Bandy Gym when they host Brewton-Parker (Ga.) on Saturday, January 18. Tip-Off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
