#5 Dalton State Moves To 3-0 With Win Over Columbia International (S.C.)


DALTON, Ga. – It was a slower day for the #5-ranked Roadrunners, but their slower afternoon still amounted to three goals in a 3-0 shutout win over Columbia International (S.C.) on the final day of the Dalton Classic at Dalton Stadium on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF SECOND HALF
  • (3-0 DS) DS: The final goal of the match came in the 49' when a free kick turned costly for the Rams as goalkeeper Matias Breit deflected the ball in the wrong direction and into goal to put the Birds up 3-0.
THE REST OF THE STORY
#5 Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (3-0-0 overall) with the win, while Columbia International (S.C.) falls to (0-2-0 overall) with the loss. The defense for DS was once again stingy only allowing a single shot during the 90-minute contest.
 
In contrast, the Roadrunners got 19 shots off with 12 coming on frame. Jip van den Essen and Antonio Bittencourt each collected goals, with Kazuma Ishizuka, Leonardo Seixas, and Jesus Huitanda getting assists.

#5-ranked Dalton State will travel for their next two matches as they will take part in the Grizzly Classic at Georgia Gwinnett over Labor Day weekend. Their first match will be against Rocky Mountain (Mont.) on Saturday, August
