Lady Birds Finish 2nd At SSAC Championship

OAKVILLE, Ala. – Dalton State battled William Carey (Miss.) and UT Southern (Tenn.) down to the wire for the SSAC Championship and came away with a close 2nd place finish in the conference run at Oakville Indian Mounds in Oakville, Ala. on Friday morning.

RECAP
Giselle Dominguez and Kylie Gray paced the Lady Birds coming away with top 5 finishes in 3rd and 4th, respectively. Dominguez had a time of 23:06, with Gray finishing 23:16.
 
Lexi Lyon, Haley Hartmann, and Madison Todd were in the top 20 overall as the last counting times. Lyon ran 24:30, Hartmann a 24:38, and Todd a 24:59. The times placed all three in 16th, 17th, and 20th.
 
Marlene Paez finished just behind Todd in 21st with a time of 25:02. Julie Ruiz and Kayla Mattox came home 42nd and 50th with times of 27:09 and 28:04.
 
AWARDS
The Roadrunners are bringing some hardware back to Dalton with Kylie Gray as the SSAC Freshman of the Year. Gray and Giselle Dominguez were also announced as All-SSAC performers. Gray added another award as her and Lexi Lyon made the All-Freshman team.

DS misses out on the automatic team invite but have individuals that will compete for the individual title at the NAIA National Championship on Friday, November 22 at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo.
