#4 Dalton State Rolls Past (RV) Louisiana Christian

DALTON, GA. – Continuing their early season success, the #4-ranked Dalton State men's soccer team followed their Thursday night victory against Brescia (Ky.) with a 5-0 win against the (RV) Louisiana Christian (La.) Wildcats.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0) DS: The Roadrunners quickly scored the 1st goal of the afternoon, matching the summer heat with some heat of their own thanks to a goal from Jack Brown, with an assist from Rasmus Andersson in the 3'.
  • (2-0) DS: In the 20', Mason Dalton applied the pressure following an attempted clear by the Wildcats, leading to Jack Stainrod finding the open net for his 2nd goal of the season.
  • (3-0) DS: Dalton State created more breathing room in the 38' after a successful penalty kick by Guilherme Franca that narrowly found the top right corner of the goal.
  • (4-0) DS: With only one second remaining in the 1st half, Mizuki Saika almost completed the buzzer-beater after receiving a corner kick deflection, placing his feet, and sending a powerful shot in for the 4th successful connection of the initial period.
SECOND HALF
  • (5-0) DS: The Birds capped off all scoring for the evening initiated with a fast break, a cross pass from Nicolas Cuna, and a game-sealing tally from Rasmus Andersson in the 69', giving him his 1st goal of the young year.
THE REST OF THE STORY
#4 Dalton State (Ga.) improves their overall record to (2-0-1 overall) with the victory. At the same time, (RV) Louisiana Christian (La.) falls to (0-1-1 overall) following the loss. The Roadrunners looked unfazed by the day's heat index, looking fresh and well-rested while building off their impressive performance two days prior.

Dalton State outshot Louisiana Christian 14-8 overall and 9-3 on goal. Michael Barrueta stopped every shot he faced, and a few had a chance of sneaking by him. Five Roadrunners in all scored a goal, while two snagged a single assist. Rasmus Andersson accumulated the most total points with a goal and an assist, the only player to appear in each category.
