#4 Roadrunners Run Unbeaten Streak To Three With 5-0 Schalacking Of Bryan (Tenn.)


DALTON, Ga. – #4-ranked Dalton State recorded their third-straight shutout and lit up the scoreboard in the process with an impressive 5-0 win over visiting Bryan (Tenn.) at Dalton Stadium in Dalton on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Jack Brown is proving to be a valuable transfer with his second goal in as many matches as he, Rasmus Andersson, and Josh Ramos collaborated for the first goal of the night in the 16'.
  • (2-0 DS) DS: Andersson and Ramos got together again as Andersson knocked a free kick on goal with Ramos hitting a backheel kick past the goalkeeper in the 41'.
  • (3-0 DS) DS: The next strike was a quick one as Jamie Mendiola cut through the defense and passed off to Matheus Fineto Gamileira, who squirted a touch pass through to Jimson St. Louis for a 3-goal lead in the 43'.
SECOND HALF
  • (4-0 DS) DS: Mendiola and Ramos sliced up the Lion defense again as their quick feet found a cutting Jack Stainrod for goal number four in the 60'.
  • (5-0 DS) DS: Filemon Quintero controlled a long pass deep in Lion territory, then found a sprinting Nicolas Cuna to finish off scoring in the 79'.
THE REST OF THE STORY
#4 Dalton State (Ga.) stays unbeaten, running their record to (3-0-1 overall) with the victory, while Bryan (Tenn.) falls to (0-3 overall) with the loss. The Birds once again played unselfish ball as each goal was assisted on. Rasmus Andersson, Josh Ramos, and Jamie Mendiola each had two assists as continuous plays accounted for three goals with two assists. Matheus Fineto Gamileira and Filemon Quintero also snagged an assist each.
 
Five Roadrunners scored in the win with Jack Brown notching the first goal of the match. Jimson St. Louis, Jack Stainrod, Nicolas Cuna, and Ramos also found the back of the net on the night.
 
The Dalton State defense was lightly tested as Michael Barrueta recorded his third clean sheet of the season. The Lions only managed 1 shot total on the night.

UP NEXT
#4 Dalton State will be back at Dalton Stadium on September 6 when they take on an ever-stingy Tennessee Wesleyan squad. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
