2023 Women's Golf Fall Schedule Has Been Released

8/14/2023 2:17:00 PM

DALTON, Ga. - Dalton State Women's Golf Coach Jim McGrew has released the Fall portion of the Lady Roadrunners 2023-24 golf schedule. The Fall schedule features 5 events, with one involving match-play. The full schedule can be viewed by clicking here.

"Extremely excited about our Fall schedule," said Coach McGrew. "We open with the (NCAA) DII Regional Preview at Cleveland Country Club. It's always nice to play close to home, and the field will include the best DII teams in the South, so a great test for us."

The Lady Roadrunners will make a return to Cleveland Country Club on September 18 and 19 to open the season in the Lee Invitational. The event is an NCAA Division II regional preview and will allow the Lady Birds to see some quality competition.

DS will then head to Palm Harbor, Fla. on September 25 and 26 for the Invite at Innisbrook, a tournament they co-host with the men's team. The Copperhead Course on the property is home to the PGA Tour's Valspar Championship.

"Innisbrook and the great NAIA field that we host has been the highlight of our Fall schedule. It always shows us where we are in relation to other great NAIA teams."

Next, the Lady Roadrunners will see a few conference foes when they travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. to play in the Carey Collegiate Classic, hosted by William Carey, at Canebrake Country Club on October 2 and 3. Dalton State has played in the event on three occasions, with the last coming in 2019. They have finished no worse than second with one team victory in the event.

"After a few weeks off, we go to Kentucky for the Gibson Bay Match Play. It will be a good indicator of how we have improved, but the layoff will give us some time to work on things."

Another match-play event dots the calendar this season as DS will compete in the Gibson Bay Match Play hosted by Cumberlands (Ky.) on October 23 and 24 at Gibson Bay Golf Course in Richmond, Ky. Last season the Lady Roadrunners won the Faulkner Match Play at Tennessee National Golf Club.

"We finish the Fall by going to Barnsley Gardens on a great course close to home."

To finish off the Fall, the Lady Birds will make the short trip to Adairsville and Barnsley Gardens for the Eagle Invite hosted by Reinhardt (Ga.). It will be Dalton State's first appearance in the event.

McGrew ended by saying, "Overall, a challenging schedule that will help prepare us for a chance to accomplish our goals."

The Spring portion of the schedule will be released later in the Fall.
