Women's Golf-2023 Eagle Invite Runner-Up

#2 Lady Roadrunners Finish Fall With A Runner Up Finish At Barnsley Gardens

ADAIRVSILLE, Ga. – #2-ranked Dalton State had Round 2 suspended due to darkness and couldn't pick up where they left off on the final day as they had to settle for a runner-up finish in the Eagle Invite at Barnsley Gardens in Adairsville on Monday and Tuesday.
 
#14 Truett-McConnell (Ga.) (940, +76) won the event with #2 Dalton State (Ga.) (958, +94) in 2nd. #8-ranked Cumberlands (Ky.) was 3rd at 961 (+97), while #11 Loyola (La.) finished 4th at 974 (+110). Campbellsville (Ky.) (1036, +172) rounded out the top 5.

RECAP
ROUND 1
Jia Kataria led the Lady Birds after one round of play with a 5-over 77. Sara Burger shot 10-over 82, with Sydney Hermann, Mailey Buzzell, and Hanna Bullard all shot 12-over 84 in the 3 through 5 spots. Ella Cress played as an individual and posted 14-over 86. The team score was (327, +39) around the difficult course.
 
ROUND 2
Things were better for Dalton State in Round 2 with Hermann carding a 75 (+3) and Buzzell a 79 (+7). Burger was in next with an 81 (+9) as Bullard pulled the fourth score with an 82 (+10). Kataria slipped back with an 85 (+13) as Cress improved with an 82 (+10). DS made up ground on Cumberlands (Ky.) with a 317 (+29) team total.
 
ROUND 3
Buzzell fired her best round of the tournament with a 2-over 74 to move up and claim all-tournament team honors in 5th. Hermann finished 7th with a final round 80 (+8). Burger was just outside the top-10 in 11th posting 79 (+7) on Tuesday.
 
Kataria bounced back with an 81 (+9) to tie for 13th, while Bullard tied for 18th with an 83 (+11) in Round 3. Cress shot 85 (+13) to come home 23rd with the team jumping into 2nd place after a 314 (+26).

This concludes the Fall season for the #2 Lady Roadrunners. They will resume play in the Spring of 2024.
