#3 Birds End Regular Season With Win Over Blue Mountain Christian


BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – #3-ranked Dalton State was held in check for the first sixty minutes of play against Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) but hit another gear as the second half wound down, scoring four goals to collect a 4-0 road win over the Toppers in the regular-season finale for both teams.

  • (1-0 DS) DS: Jamie Mendiola finally got a score on the board for DS as Josh Ramos and Jimson St. Louis used some nifty passing to get the ball to Mendiola, who did the rest in the 62'.
  • (1-0 DS) DS: St. Louis got a goal of his own in the 65' on a Jack Stainrod assist.
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Filemon Quintero and Jack Brown connected in the 75', with Brown getting the score.
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Stainrod snagged the last score of the day in the 89' with Brown getting the assist.
THE REST OF THE STORY
#3 Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (11-1-3 overall, 8-1-1 SSAC) with the win, while Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) drops to (4-7-3 overall, 2-5-3 SSAC) with the loss. The DS offense lit up the scoreboard in the final 28 minutes of play with four goals. Michael Barrueta had a light day in goal, not facing a shot thanks in part to the stout Roadrunner backline.
 
Jamie Mendiola, Jimson St. Louis, Jack Brown, and Jack Stainrod all scored for Dalton State. St. Louis, Brown, Stainrod, Josh Ramos, and Filemon Quintero each earned assists.
 
UP NEXT
#3-ranked Dalton State will be the #2-seed in the SSAC Tournament and host #7-seed Life (Ga.) at Dalton Stadium on Thursday, November 2. Kick-Off against the Running Eagles is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
