#2 Roadrunners Bounce Back With Big Road Win At #6 William Carey (Miss.)


HATTIESBURG, Miss. – #2-ranked Dalton State bounced back in a big way after losing their first match of the year, collecting a 2-1 road victory over #6 William Carey (Miss.) in a pivotal SSAC matchup in Hattiesburg, Miss. on Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 WC) WC: Jamie Wynne took a cross from Reon Dawes and found the back of the net in the 8' for a quick 1-goal lead.
SECOND HALF
  • (1-1 T) DS: Jack Stainrod hit the equalizer in the 34' as he turned quickly after receiving a ball from Juan Demichelis and hit the bottom right of the goal with a left foot kick.
  • (2-1 DS) DS: Rasmus Andersson went top right 90 in the 87' off a free kick for the eventual game-winner.
THE REST OF THE STORY
#2 Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (8-1-3 overall, 5-1-1 SSAC) with the win, while #6 William Carey (Miss.) drops to (13-2-1 overall, 8-1-0 SSAC) with the loss. Michael Barrueta collected 3 saves in net, with Jack Stainrod and Rasmus Andersson getting scores.
 
DS held the shot advantage at 14-7 overall. While Carey didn't take many shots, they were on target when they did, as 4 of their shots came on frame.
 
UP NEXT
#2 Dalton State returns to Dalton Stadium on Sunday, October 22, to take on Point (Ga.) for Senior Day. Kick-Off is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
