#15 Roadrunners Take Down #20 Milligan In National Ranked Battle


DALTON, Ga. – The 15th-ranked Roadrunners used stout defense and scored two second half goals to vanquish #20 Milligan (Tenn.) 2-0 in non-conference soccer action at Dalton Stadium in Dalton on Saturday night. The win avenges a 3-1 defeat to the Buffaloes on the road last season.

  • (1-0 DS) DS: Josh Ramos broke a 0-0 deadlock in the 54' catching a rebound and finding the back of the net.
  • (2-0 DS) DS: A beautiful lead pass led to a fast break led by Cristiano Catarino that shifted to Logan Vidal who beat the goalkeeper and found Jamie Mendiola for an open net goal in the 72'. 
THE REST OF THE STORY
#15 Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (3-0-1 overall) with the win, while #20 Milligan (Tenn.) falls to (0-1-2 overall) with the loss. It was all freshmen as Jamie Mendiola and Josh Ramos each collected goals. Cristiano Catarino and Logan Vidal had an assist each.
 
DS held the shot advantage at 9-6 overall and a 5-2 clip on frame. Fouls were equal at 9 each with 5 total yellow cards issued.

UP NEXT
#15 Dalton State play the second match in a Labor Day double-dip with the women when they take on Williams Baptist (Ark.) on Monday, September 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
