Roadrunners Run Winning Streak To Three With Win Over Carolina University

WALESKA, Ga. – A sharp second half keyed by the smooth shooting of Jaelin Ferrell and court vision of Boubacar Kamissoko saw the Roadrunners turn a halftime stalemate into a 77-64 neutral site win over Carolina University at Reinhardt's Brown Athletic Center in Waleska on Tuesday night.

THE FIRST HALF

  • Carolina took their largest lead of the night with 7:36 remaining at 24-19 after a D'Shun Edwards jumper.
  • From that point, the Roadrunners began to claw their way back into the game beginning with 5-straight points from Donavan Miller to shrink the lead to 4 points (24-20).
  • Franklin Almonte snagged the next 5 points to go along with a Carterius Evans bucket as Dalton State drew even to tie the game, 27-27, at the half.
  • After Carolina took a 9-point lead, Dalton State outscored the Bruins 12-3 over the final 7+ minutes to take the momentum.
THE SECOND HALF
  • Ferrell once again opened the half with a three for a 30-27 lead.
  • Carolina U countered with a 9-2 run on the back of Micah Cooper to re-take the lead (36-32).
  • Ferrell stopped the bleeding with 2 three-balls followed by 3 free throws after a foul in the act of shooting for 9-straight points and a 2-point Roadrunner lead (41-39) at the 14:10 mark.
  • Carterius Evans got in on the act next with two buckets in the paint to extend the lead to 6 points two minutes later.
  • From there, DS began to methodically draw the lead out with baskets from Evans, Brad Milliorn, Sean Cobb, Donavan Miller, and assists from Boubacar Kamissoko to build a double-digit lead.
  • An Evans dunk put the lead at 13 points (75-62) late in the contest, the largest of the night for Dalton State, as they held on for a 77-64 win.
