COCHRAN, Ga. – Dalton State women's soccer team ended the regular season in style pulling off an upset road win against (RV) Middle Georgia State 2-1 in SSAC soccer action at NeSmith Field in Cochran on Thursday. By virtue of getting the win and holding MGA to just one goal coupled with a 3-goal win from Life (Ga.), the Lady Roadrunners knock the Knights from the 2-seed to the 3-seed in the SSAC Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF

• NO SCORING

SECOND HALF

• (1-0 DS) DS: Molly Duncan sent a well-placed midfield pass up to Nicole Perez who knocked it over the approaching goalkeeper for the first goal in the 58'.
• (1-1 T) MGA: The Knights tied the match in the 65' when Nicole Beasley and Hannah Theriault combined on the equalizer with Theriault getting the goal.
• (2-1 DS) DS: A little under a minute later the Lady Birds got the lead back when a free kick from Reyna Flores found Guadalupe Martinez who batted the ball forward to a sprinting Lauren Wright that took advantage of an out of position goalkeeper in the 66'.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (5-5-4 overall, 3-3-2 SSAC) on the season with the win, while (RV) Middle Georgia State falls to (8-6-2 overall, 5-2-1 SSAC) with the loss. Nicole Perez picks up her second goal in as many games with Lauren Wright getting her 1^st of the season. Guadalupe Martinez netted her 2^nd assist of the season with Molly Duncan and Reyna Flores getting their 1^st.
 
Middle Georgia held a decided shot advantage at 18-5 overall and 9-3 on goal, but only managed 1 goal on the evening. Brooke Alvarez did beautifully between the posts stopping 7 shots for the Lady Roadrunners.

UP NEXT
The rematch between these two squads will come quick as the 6-seed Dalton State will travel to Cochran next week to take on the 3-seed Middle Georgia State. The match will take place between November 3 and November 5 at NeSmith Field. Stay tuned to dsroadrunners.com for official date and time.
