Dalton State Battles Point (Ga.) to Scoreless Draw

WEST POINT, Ga. – Dalton State controlled much of the second half and received a five-save performance from Maggie Rickerd as the Lady Roadrunners earned a 0-0 draw against Point (Ga.) on Saturday at River Bowl Stadium in West Poin.

FIRST HALF
The teams played an evenly contested opening 45 minutes, recording four shots apiece. Brooke Fairchild produced Dalton State's first attempt in the 25th minute before Alice Legnedahl placed the Roadrunners' first shot on goal in the 27th. Audrey Hunt and Amy Wearing added attempts later in the period, but neither side found the breakthrough.

At the other end, Rickerd kept the match scoreless with two first-half saves. She stopped an effort from Hailey Hull in the 39th minute and turned away Naomi Tilley in the closing seconds of the half.

SECOND HALF
Point tested Rickerd twice during the first 10 minutes after the restart, but the Dalton State goalkeeper denied attempts from Mia Boitel and Lidia Rodriguez. The Roadrunners then began applying sustained pressure, with Legnedahl forcing a save in the 63rd minute before consecutive corner kicks helped Dalton State remain on the attack.

Dalton State continued creating opportunities as Lexi Lyon, Legnedahl and Chaney Paulino each sent attempts high. Legnedahl placed another shot on frame in the 81st minute, and Fairchild forced McKinsey Williams into a fourth save in the 84th.

The Roadrunners outshot Point 7-3 and earned all five of their corner kicks during the second half. Rickerd completed the clean sheet by saving Rodriguez's final-minute attempt, preserving the scoreless draw.
