Top Ranked Roadrunners Snag 3-0 Road Win At Talladega


DALTON, Ga. – #1 Dalton State kept their unbeaten streak alive with a 3-0 road win at Talladega (Ala.) in SSAC soccer action at TC Field in Talladega, Ala. on Saturday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: DS pressed early for a goal but didn't find their 1st goal until the 27' when Justin Riescher went in unassisted.
  • (2-0 DS) DS: Javier Morejon scored the 2nd Dalton State goal a little over a minute later in the 29' on a sharp connection that started with Conner Nixon and continued to Jamie Mendiola.
SECOND HALF
  •  (3-0 DS) DS: Blas Elizondo found Riescher with a through pass inside the 6-yard box that Riescher converted into a goal in the 88'.
THE REST OF THE STORY
#1 Dalton State (Ga.) improves (12-0-3 overall, 5-0-1 SSAC) with the win, while Talladega (Ala.) falls to (0-9-0 overall, 0-7-0) with the loss. Justin Riescher collected two goal on the day giving him 12 on the season, with Javier Morejon scoring his 4th goal of the year. Blas Elizondo, Connor Nixon, and Jamie Mendiola each registered an assist on the day.
 
Michael Barrueta had yet another clean sheet, his 4th straight. The Roadrunners dominated the shot count 31-1. Twelve of the Dalton State shots came on frame as they held the Tornadoes without a shot on goal.

UP NEXT
Two more road contest remain as the #1 Roadrunners look to close out another SSAC Regular Season Championship. Their next match occurs on Thursday, October 27 when they travel to Cochran to take on Middle Georgia State. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
