Unbeaten Streak Stands At Eight With 3-0 Win Over Faulkner


DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State pushed their unbeaten streak to 8 games with a 3-0 win over visiting Faulkner (Ala.) in Southern States Athletic Conference soccer action at Lakeshore Park in Dalton on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Less than 10 minutes in, Santiago Moore crossed a ball that Jeremiah Ruth tip-passed and Justin Riescher finished.
  • (2-0 DS) DS: Zachary Perry found a cutting Riescher in the 14' mark to put the Birds up by 2 goals.
  • (3-0 DS) DS: Perry added a goal of his own on a beautiful bicycle kick off of a loose ball in the box.
SECOND HALF

THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) improves to 7-0-1 overall (2-0 SSAC) with the win, while Faulkner (Ala.) falls to 1-5-1 overall (0-2 SSAC) with the loss. Justin Riescher scored two more goals to add to his league leading total. His 12 goals are good for 9th in the country.
 
Zachary Perry got a gorgeous goal and added an assist. Jeremiah Ruth and Santiago Moore combined for assists on Riescher's 1st goal. Kieran Hodges made it 3-for-3 with clean sheets and nabbed 6 saves in the process.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
The Birds controlled the match from the jump. They outshot the Eagles 18-6 overall, and 10-6 on point. Fouls were low at 8 for Faulkner and 7 for Dalton State.

UP NEXT
Dalton State will be back on the pitch at Lakeshore Park on Saturday, March 6 when they host Brewton-Parker (Ga.). Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
