Roadrunners Get Win Against Life (Ga.)


MARIETTA, Ga. – Dalton State kicked off the Spring portion of the soccer season on Sunday with a 3-0 road win against Life (Ga.) at Lupo Family Field in Marietta.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Connor Nixon got the Roadrunners on the board first at the end of the 16' mark when he found the back of the net.
SECOND HALF
  • (2-0 DS) DS: After a hard fought second half, Santiago Moore and Jonathan Soto connected to give the Birds a 2-goal lead in the 86'.
  • (3-0 DS) DS: Dalton State put the game away in the 89' when Soto found Justin Riescher for the 3rd Roadrunner goal of the day.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (4-0-1 overall) with the win, while Life (Ga.) falls to (0-1 overall) with the loss. Connor Nixon and Jonathan Soto each got their 1st goals on the season, with Justin Riescher netting his team leading 8th.
 
Soto picked up the assist on Riescher's goal, while Santiago Moore got the assist on Soto's. Newcomer Kieran Hodges saved all 4 shots on goal in getting a clean sheet in his first appearance in net for the Roadrunners.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
Life outshot Dalton State 14-9 overall and 4-3 on goal. All 3 Roadrunner shots on goal found the back of the net.
 
Corner kicks were even at 4-4, while the foul count was higher for the Running Eagles (14) than the Roadrunners (11). The match was a little chippy with 9 total cards shown, 8 yellow and 1 red. Dalton State collected 6 with Life claiming 3.

Dalton State will hit the pitch again on Thursday, February 18 when they travel to Temple Terrace, Fla. to open SSAC play against the Falcons of Florida College. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
