DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State opened the season with swarming defense and an up-tempo offensive attack to come away with an 87-52 victory visiting Oakwood (Ala.) at Mashburn Arena on Saturday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Roadrunners grew the lead to 27 points with 3:41 left in the half after Tucker hit the front end of two free throws.
  • DS carried a 45-17 lead into the half after a Tucker bucket with 22 seconds to go.
  • Extended the lead out to 37 points at 59-22 with a Jordan Young layup at the 14:26 mark of the second half.
  • A Randy Bell three-pointer with 5:31 left to play gave the Roadrunners their largest lead of the game at 43 points at 82-39.
  • Did not allow the lead to go below 34 points down the stretch as Dalton State cruised to a 35-point win.
