Women's Soccer Falls On The Road To Mobile


MOBILE, Ala. – Dalton State got the first goal on the board, but couldn't hold on late as Mobile protected home turf and came away with a 2-1 win in SSAC action at The Jungle in Mobile, Ala. on Thursday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • (DS 1-0): The Lady Roadrunners got on the scoreboard first with a goal by Andrea Soto Calderon on an assist from Sarah Chamale in the 38'.
  • (UM 1-1): Mobile evened the score at 1-1 in the 41' when Sylvana Kempka found Kirstie Ruff for the tying goal.
  • (UM 2-1): Shannie Chaisson put the Lady Rams up for good in the 78' on an assist from Destiny Hammac.
 
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) falls to (6-6 overall, 2-2 SSAC) with the loss, while Mobile (Ala.) improves to (8-5-2 overall, 2-3-1 SSAC) with the win. Dalton State held the lead over Mobile for the first time in program history in the match. The Lady Rams are perennially one of the best in the SSAC and the nation, but are having a down year compared to their recent success.
 
Andrea Soto Calderon notched her second goal of the season, while Sarah Chamale recorded her first assist. Mattie Dollar played excellent in net only allowing two goals. It was the first time in five matchups between the two teams that Mobile was held below four goals.
