(RV) Roadrunners Draw With Emory


ATLANTA, Ga. – The Dalton State Men's Soccer team came away with a 2-2 tie against NCAA Division III member Emory University at Woodruff PE Center on Friday afternoon. Dalton State played an aggressive game managing to get an own goal on Emory in the second period. Steve Taylor also kicked in a goal for the Roadrunners during the second period.
 
FIRST HALF
Dalton State played an aggressive first half and posted a total of six shots in the first period. Emory was able to stave off the Roadrunner's attack, and Moustafa Khattab shot one in for the eagles at 18:26 bringing the score to 1-0 for Emory. The lead would persist in to the second period, but the Dalton State defense stepped up and didn't allow in any more goals in the first period.
 
SECOND HALF
The Roadrunners knew they had work to do as they started the second period a goal behind. Early in the second half freshman Frank Herrera made a shot but couldn't manage to find the back of the net. Finally, Dalton State was able to tie up the game with a Steve Taylor shot on a goal at 65'.

The game was tied up until Garcia managed to score for Emory at 71:15, but the lead was short lived as the Roadrunner's aggression finally paid off with Emory shooting in their own goal and tying it up for a final score of 2-2.
 
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (1-0-1) continues to have a good start to the season with a solid tie against Emory. Amin Saheb Ettabaa and Frank Herrera both made two shots on goal apiece. Overall the Roadrunners delivered a solid performance.

 

UP NEXT
Dalton State will be playing at home against Talladega (Ala.) on tuesday, August 28th. Kickoff is scheduled for
6:00 p.m. at Lakeshore Park.
