Roadrunners Defeat Talladega in Part Two of Doubleheader

DALTON, Ga. – The Dalton State Men's Soccer team capped off an impressive doubleheader with a 5-2 victory over the GCAC member Talladega (Ala.) on Tuesday night at Lakeshore Park.

THE FIRST HALF
Both teams played tough defense with only 3 shots taken in the first part of the half. Freshman Frank Herrera scored the first goal of the game in the 21' off an assist from Junior Daniel Valenciano. Valenciano added another assist moments later on a Tyler Hudson goal. The Roadrunners led at the half 2-0.

THE SECOND HALF
Talladega picked up some momentum with a quick goal in the 41' by Matheus Severino, but Valenciano answered right back with goal in the 39' to get the lead back up to two. After Valenciano was fouled in the box, senior Sebastian Guzman scored on a penalty kick to make it 4-1. Valenciano added another goal in the 65' while Talladega scored with minutes to go in regulation, but the Roadrunners held them off to win 5-2.
