Late Goal Ends Roadrunner Regular Season With A Loss

PULASKI, Tenn. - Dalton State looked poised for another overtime thriller with Martin Methodist, but the Red Hawks had other plans as Juan Yepes would score in the 85' to hand the Roadrunners a 2-1 loss to end the regular season at Grissom Pitch in Pulaski, Tenn. on Saturday evening.

THE FIRST HALF
Dalton State would get two early shots off on Red Hawk goalkeeper Julien Gregoire. The first would be from Tyler Hudson in the 2', with the second coming from Sebastian Guzman in the 12'. Each time Gregoire would be up to the task to keep the match tied at 0-0.

The Roadrunners would out shoot the Red Hawks 8-3 in the first half, but could not get a ball to find its mark. Dalton State would play tough on defense limiting Martin Methodist opportunities to score, but it would be the Red Hawks who would get on the scoreboard first. In the 42' Filip Malmgren would take pass from Miguel Tizapa and put a ball past Samuel Fraire for the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.

THE SECOND HALF
Martin Methodist would be the aggressor to begin the second period, opening with a barrage of shots and controlling the first 23 minutes of play. Dalton State would mount an attack in the 69', but Gregoire would turn Kevin Villatoro and Daniel Valenciano away without a score.

The Roadrunners would hit the equalizer in the 78' off the boot of Frank Herrera on an assist from Amin Saheb Ettabaa. With time ticking down, it looked as if the Roadrunners and the Red Hawks would once again head to overtime. Martin Methodist would have none of it as Juan Yepes would find space and send a ball past Fraire in the 85' to give Martin Methodist a 2-1 lead.

Dalton State would mount a quick attack right after kickoff. Guzman would get a good look at goal but Gregoire would once again stop the shot. Time would run out as Martin Methodist would take the victory, 2-1.
