#15 Bethel Ends Roadrunner Winning Streak At Three

MCKENZIE, Tenn. - Dalton State would go into McKenzie, Tenn. on Thursday night on fire with three straight victories, but the Wildcat attack would be too much as #15 Bethel would come away with a 4-1 win over the Roadrunners at Wildcat Field.

THE FIRST HALF
Bethel would take ball early and try to establish possession. They would do so in the 5' when Pascal Mohungsi put a ball past Samuel Fraire for a quick 1-0 lead. Dalton State would hit right back with an attack of their own but two great looks at goal would miss high as the score stayed 1-0 in the Wildcats favor.

The Roadrunners would stay aggressive and in the 26' they would be rewarded when Tyler Hudson took a pass from Daniel Valenciano and finish it in the back of the net to tie the match at 1-1. The Roadrunners would out shoot the Wildcats 3-1 down the stretch in the first half, but would have to settle for a 1-1 tie going into the break.

THE SECOND HALF
Both teams would trade shots early in the period before Mohungsi connected with Don Obare for his second goal of the night in the 59' to put Bethel ahead 2-1. Bethel would extend the lead to two at 3-1 in the 68' when David Boompong found the back of the net.

The Bethel defense would turn up the heat and begin to frustrate Dalton State. Obare and Mohungsi would connect again in the 79', this time with Obare knocking a goal home to extend the lead to 4-1. The Wildcat D would limit the Roadrunner opportunities the rest of the way and take the victory, 4-1.

THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State falls to (7-8-1 overall, 3-4 SSAC) with the loss, while #15 Bethel (Tenn.) improves to (13-3-1 overall, 6-1 SSAC) with the win. Even with the loss, Dalton State advances on to the SSAC Tournament with a Faulkner (Ala.) loss to Martin Methodist (Tenn.).

The Roadrunners out shot the Wildcats 6-2 in the first half, but Bethel reversed the action in the second half, taking the advantage 5-3 and scoring three goals in the process. Tyler Hudson notched his second goal of the season, while Daniel Valenciano recorded his team high ninth assist.

UP NEXT
Dalton State will stay on the road and will close out the regular season on Saturday, October 27 in Pulaski, Tenn. when they match up with Martin Methodist (Tenn.). Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (CDT).
